Abstract
The present article analyses the uniqueness of the content of the very prominent, prolific and unconventional writer- Humayun Azad's essays. The essayists of pre- and post-independent Bangladesh were mainly concerned with their contemporary society's anxiety, pain, spirit, conflict and transition. The backdrop of sense and expectation of a deep understanding of the confined life has resonated in many of them. Humayun Azad is one of the essayists of this period who has gone beyond the tradition and highlighted the various inconsistencies and the ways out of those problems. The present research also figures out the compatibility and relevance of Humayun Azad’s thoughts on the state and society with the present-day reality of Bangladesh.
